Please help me raise money for the Mill Creek Family YMCA Annual Support Campaign.

As a child I always wanted to play baseball and be in gymnastics but growing up in a middle income household funds were tight and I was not able to participate in either sport. I wish my parents had known about the Y when I was younger so that I could of been able to get active, be part of a team, and build self-confidence. I donate so that every child can have the opportunities that I wanted as a child no matter their financial ability.

This year we are expanding our giving and helping other programs like our Livestrong Cancer Survivors Group, ACT (Youth Obesity Prevention Program), and our Peddling for Parkinson Program.

The Y is so much more, we connect, we educate, we motivate and we encourage healthy living. Together we can all make a difference!  Your donation changes lives - it couldn't be simpler.

Last year the YMCA of Snohomish County provided over $1,760,000 in financial assistance to over 10,700 individuals in need.  With your support, our Y Community can continue to provide enriching programs for youth from caring role models, and provide a network of services to those who need it most.

As always, your contribution is 100% tax deductible. Join me in helping our community be the best it can be!

Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income, or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

We believe that lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together. That's why, at the Y, strengthening community is our cause.

With a focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, the Y works to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve the nation's health and well-being, and give back and support our neighbors.

At the Y, no child, family, or adult is turned away. We recognize that for communities to succeed, everyone must be given the opportunity to be healthy, confident, connected, and secure.

"My connection with the YMCA is varied and started over 20 years ago with workouts at the tiny SE YMCA (whose building was actually donated by the builder of Silver Firs). That tiny YMCA is now the large and beautiful Mill Creek YMCA that many of us around here donated funds to expand. My kids have taken Tae Kwon Do lessons, I did the boot camp work out and later when the gym was built, my husband participated in his favorite sport, basketball. My children could go there and play pool and play in the pool and teen nights were pretty awesome. My kids also were part of the afterschool daycare program and when I took custody of my great-nephew recently, the YMCA was my first choice to send him. They are one of the few daycare centers that pay decent benefits to their staff and that really matters to me; happy staff means lower turnover ratio. Tragedy stuck our home in January 1998 when my husband, playing an easy game of pickup basketball, went into cardiac arrest. A staff member, being as well trained as he was, went into immediate action and started CPR. The fire station was across the street so that was a blessing also. In a case of cardiac arrest, 98% of people who do not get help right away risk brain damage and or death. My husband made it through and was implanted with a defibrillator and we later found out that he had a genetic condition. My husband unfortunately did pass away in 2011 due to complications from the defect but we will never forget the role the YMCA played in prolonging his survival. Our family is happy to make a contribution this year."
