Whenever people ask about my childhood,or the most influential thing in my life, I always start with "I'm a Y kid." I went to before and aftercare at my elementary school. Summer camp all through elementary and middle school allowed me to do all sorts of things I never thought I wanted to do (the first being making butter). Then, when high school came about, I started volunteering and participating on YMCA programs like Youth and Government, the Pacific Regional High School Conference, You Leadership Development. Because these programs altered and developed who I was to become who I am, I am still involved in providing that opportunity to future teens.

It is one thing to be able to donate so much time, but when that's not possible, there are other ways to help out. The Annual Campaign with the Mill Creek YMCA is a way to volunteer to help a kid go to summer camp.

Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income, or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

We believe that lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together. That's why, at the Y, strengthening community is our cause.

With a focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, the Y works to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve the nation's health and well-being, and give back and support our neighbors.

At the Y, no child, family, or adult is turned away. We recognize that for communities to succeed, everyone must be given the opportunity to be healthy, confident, connected, and secure.
