Let me start off by saying, I love the YMCA and everything it stands for. The YMCA is more than the place where I go to workout, much more! If you personally are not affected by something the YMCA has to offer, I'd be willing to bet that someone close to you or someone you know is. I proudly have volunteered at the YMCA over the past years and have been part of some pretty amazing events. One event in particular was a Pedalathon that raised money for the Pedal for Parkison program that my YMCA has to offer. Being in the same room and biking with people who live with this disease everyday I was able to see first hand how this program has brought so much hope and strength to them.Just this month six of the girls on my 6th grade basketball team joined me in running in the annual Puddle Run. This was an event that raised money for the Livestrong program. Not only did these girls help to raise money for cancer survivors but it was an opportunity for them to be part of something that was beneficial to their well being and to experience the feeling of success by completing the race. This is just one of the many programs funded by the annual campaign. The YMCA literally has something for everyone and no one is ever turned away if they can't afford it.

Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income, or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

We believe that lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together. That's why, at the Y, strengthening community is our cause.

With a focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, the Y works to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve the nation's health and well-being, and give back and support our neighbors.

At the Y, no child, family, or adult is turned away. We recognize that for communities to succeed, everyone must be given the opportunity to be healthy, confident, connected, and secure.
