Preparing Our Youngest Members for Academic Success

Help us in supporting Monroe/Sky Valley Family YMCA's Pre-K/Kindergarten programs! Your donations will help to support children in their academic success and gain confidence through learning opportunities.

Every gift counts!

  • $50 provides 6 weeks of Toddler Sports for a young athlete
  • $150 provides 2 weeks of Preschool Summer Camp to get them ready for school
  • $500 ensures a kindergartener has a safe, caring place to be after school every day

In 2014, the Monroe Y provided over $25,000 scholarships and subsidized financial support to families for child care and camp programs. We have over 500 participants in before- and after-school child care and camp programs each year.

Eduardo`s Story:

Like any mother, Mariela worries about her son. At age 1, Eduardo was diagnosed with kidney failure. Now age 5, he is currently on dialysis and awaiting a kidney transplant.

The Y provided Mariela with a scholarship so Eduardo could attend Preschool/Kindergarten Camp throughout the summer.

Eduardo attended all the field trips, participated in activities, and was fully integrated into the group. By the end of the summer he was actively engaging with other children, playing, and having fun.

“It is incredible how the Y helped me out this summer with a  scholarship. My son was able to be involved in all camps. The YMCA has shown that they do not only help low-income families but also children with special needs.”

Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income, or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

We believe that lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together. That's why, at the Y, strengthening community is our cause.

With a focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, the Y works to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve the nation's health and well-being, and give back and support our neighbors.

At the Y, no child, family, or adult is turned away. We recognize that for communities to succeed, everyone must be given the opportunity to be healthy, confident, connected, and secure.
