After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis I looked at my body in a whole new light,I needed to nourish, and strengthen it, to try to be as healthy as possible.

I was pretty sick at the time, and had hit rock bottom.  My body was slowly shutting down, and the medications were only making me worse. I couldn't take it any longer, I had to find a better way.

So I completely changed my diet. I slowly started to come out of my fog, my liver was now working correctly, had a lot more strength in my legs, and I had lost almost 50 lbs! I was feeling good but I knew it was time for more

I joined the YMCA to hopefully get a little exercise in, regain some mobility, lessen my fatigue. What I got instead was so much more. I have never felt more motivated.  The caring and support I got from everyone both workers and goers was unreal.  I was able to push myself further then ever, and for the first time in years I felt strong!

The Y teaches the importance of health and nutrition in such a positive way, working together to make a better future for all especially to the kids.  living in a world full of disease, it's more important then ever to be healthy, and learn the building blocks for a healthy future.

Please help me raise money for the Monroe Family YMCA Annual Support Campaign.

Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income, or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

We believe that lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together. That's why, at the Y, strengthening community is our cause.

With a focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, the Y works to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve the nation's health and well-being, and give back and support our neighbors.

At the Y, no child, family, or adult is turned away. We recognize that for communities to succeed, everyone must be given the opportunity to be healthy, confident, connected, and secure.
