It’s FUN-Raising time everyone. YEAH! What could be more fun than laughing with a child while learning together? Or with a friend while exercising? How about laughing with a cancer survivor at a LiveStrong Meeting? Or with a senior as we stretch together before our yoga class? I know that for myself, one of my favorite memories of laughing at the YMCA is when I volunteered at youth sports with the 3-5 & 7-9 year olds. They are the funniest group of kids!
I have heard that laughter is the best medicine. I agree. Think about how many times you laugh during the day, and then think about where you were. I can recall many times walking through the YMCA and hearing laughter from adults and children alike. They were people from all walks of life who, just like you and me, enjoy laughing together and want to see their community thrive.
The YMCA is much more than a gym; it’s a community center. It’s a place where people from all walks of life come together to laugh, build friendships, get emotional and financial support, take classes, and feel healthy and strong. As you continue to read through this list of programs offered at the YMCA, see if you can imagine laughter happening in all of these activities.
Here is a short list of activities that happen in the background at the YMCA: Make-A-Splash swim lessons, My Achievers for teens, LiveStrong for cancer survivors, Pedaling for Parkinson’s, & ACT to prevent childhood obesity, to name a few. Laughter can certainly be included in these and many other YMCA activities!
And let’s not forget scholarships for teen & family memberships and financial assistance for kids in the Y’s Early Childhood Education preschool programs.
As you can see there is so much more that happens at the YMCA. I want to take this opportunity to say thank you for reading this and to say thank you for your support. I have personally seen how the “fun”-raising has positively affected our schools, youth, seniors, and families in financial need. Everyone benefits, from infants to seniors.
I want to take this opportunity to say, THANK YOU! THANK YOU for reading this and THANK YOU for considering a donation, as it not only helps me reach my goal of 1,000.00 but also helps the Y and the greater Everett community. You are making a long-term impact on a fellow community member; maybe a child, a cancer survivor, a senior, or an infant. It’s people like you and me who love and support the needs of our community who make a big difference. All contributions help, both big and small, but please consider, if you can, donating $100.00. The more contributions, the more laughter I will be hearing around the YMCA. Thomas and I have donated, and now I ask you to bring a little more laughter to our YMCA. I wish you many BLESSINGS and GREAT HEALTH.
