My Y story started in before & after school care at Chase Lake Elementary in first grade. Twenty years later I still remember the staff Brian, Julie, and Lilly. Brendan and I were also lucky enough to spend a week at Camp Orkila each summer. Twenty years later I still remember Wendy, my very first Camp Orkila Counselor.
It was no coincidence that when I started looking for a job my sophomore year in college, I went to the Y. My experiences taught me that individuals have the ability to change a child's life, and I wanted to do the same. I have had the pleasure of giving back to the Y as a staff member for five years now.
I was privileged to be able to participate in Y child care and camp, but not all children have the same opportunities I was afforded.
