3rd Annual Benefit Auction for the Mill Creek YMCA
March 16, 2019     5:30 pm

At the Y, strengthening communities is our cause. More and more, communities, families, and children depend on the Y as a place to belong, help them get and stay healthy, and develop a caring and responsible next generation.

The revenue from our auction funds scholarships for the many programs and services we offer as well as funds free youth development and chronic disease programs. Last year our auction raised $71,000 and our goal in 2019 is $85,000.

Highlights from 2018:

  • $13,805 sent 51 children to summer camp where they experienced positive relationships, achievement and belonging, building memories, confidence, and social skills that last a lifetime.
  • 20 8-12 graders attended weekly Youth and Government meetings learning civics and actively engaging in their democracy through a four day mock legislative session in Olympia. Students who participate in YAG are more likely to vote and discuss politics at home, volunteer and work on community issues, and speak publicly and communicate with elected officials.
  • 140 scholarships allowed youth to build confidence and learn sportsmanship while staying active and engaged in sports and recreation programs.
  • The Pedaling for Parkinson Program offered 156 bike sessions and 52 support group meetings bringing 20 participants together to support each other and reduce Parkinson’s symptoms.
  • 1,646 youth participated in 3,811 swim lesson sessions learning water safety and lifesaving skills with 15% receiving financial assistance.

Our auction is our major fundraiser for the year. Its success determines how much we can give to the community in return.
