With a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, strengthening communities is our cause. At the Y, we believe that lasting personal and social change happens when we all work together. Every day we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to be healthy, confident, connected, and secure.
When you give to the Y, you are funding life-changing programs that help tens of thousands of children, adults, and families in Snohomish County to learn, grow and thrive.
The Y is arguably the most powerful social institution this country has ever known. The Y helped found the USO (United Service Organization) and the Peace Corps was patterned after a YMCA program. If you've ever gone to a public library, taken a night course, or celebrated Father's Day, your life has been touched by the work of the Y. If you've ever played basketball or volleyball, or gone camping, you've enjoyed the work of the Y.
Here in Snohomish County, the Y has been serving and strengthening our communities since 1901. We've been here through economic booms and busts, wartime and peace, and social upheavals both subtle and life-changing. Our movement is made up of people of all ages and from every walk of life, all working side-by-side to ensure that everyone, regardless of gender, income or background, has the opportunity to live life to its fullest.
We value caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, and everything we do stems from this. Our staff and volunteers are kids, parents, grandparents, neighbors, and local leaders who are all personally committed to understanding what our neighborhoods need. Together, we use our knowledge to develop stronger, more integrated communities, provide support for people and families, and promote positive change overall.
